missing application icons

Is there any sort of fix for missing toolbar icons in programs running in vista?
I have had this twice so far, once with WinACE and also with solidworks 2006. The menu buttons are still usable but you just can't see what each button is as there is no icons??
Anyone else experiencing this?

I'm getting it with window gadgets.
